Author: Tim Tender

Hi. My name is Tim. Pleasure to meet you! The paragraphs below give you some highlights about me. I hope you enjoy. Hockey first... I started playing hockey in 1999/2000 with my high school's JV team. I played some adult league hockey and worked at a rink from 1999 until I moved to Johnstown in 2005. I played sporadically from then until I moved to Madison in 2011. I took a year or so off just because I didn't know where to play here and I traveled a lot for work. Now, I'm finally able to join a league because I don't travel anymore. I've been with the MGHA since 2015 and have served on the Board for several of those years. I've also been a captain since 2016. More stuff... In addition to hockey, I enjoy TV, alternative music, and being outdoors. I play soccer, as well. I also used to host a music trivia / pop culture trivia / game show type-thing at a bar back home. Since moving to Madison, I now just host it for friends in my house every couple of months. My dream job is to be a game show host! Work... As far as work goes, I work for Advarra as a software tester. I've also freelanced on WMTV here in Madison. I used to work at a TV station in Johnstown, PA where I did weekend weather and produced weather graphics. It was fun, but it's nice to have a 9-5 job without having to work holidays. That's it for now.

Schedule Change (10/27 Practices and 11/3 Games)

Hey everyone!

The league that the Caps play in has mandated that all Sunday games start at 3 PM instead of 2 PM (unless ok’d by the visiting team).  This only impacts a few of our weeks, but there may be a few schedule changes throughout the season.  We’ll update you as we learn about them.  Aside from these two, the next Sunday home Caps game isn’t until December 1st.
As of now, here’s the schedule for this week’s practices and the first week of games (the 11/3 games may change if the visiting team approves of the 2 PM time)…

Sunday 10/27 (Practices)

Rink A

6:30 PM: Orange and Green (L2)

7:40 PM: Light Blue and Yellow (L2)

8:50 PM: Red and Blue (L2)

Rink B

5:00 PM: Black and Green (L1)

6:10 PM: Red and Orange (L1)

7:20 PM: Light Blue and Yellow (L1)

Sunday 11/3 (Games)

Rink A

6:30 PM: Orange and Yellow (L2)

7:40 PM: Red and Light Blue (L2)

8:50 PM: Green and Blue (L2)

Rink B

5:00 PM: Light Blue and Red (L1)

6:10 PM: Black and Blue (L1)

7:20 PM: Yellow and Green (L1)

8:30 PM: Orange and White (L1) Couple of reminders:

  • Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to make sure you’re dressed in time to get on the ice.
  • While on the ice, helmets MUST stay on at all times for safety and insurance reasons.
  • Please mark yourself absent on the website if you’re going to miss.

Thank you all for your patience as we work through these growing pains. Can’t wait to see you all on the ice!
Tim(on behalf of HOps and the Board)

Championship Night Details

Can you believe our season is almost over? Honestly I feel like we just started!

But before we move on to summer (and the Classic!!) we have our Championship Night at Cap Ice. Saving the best for last!
We have a busy night that includes taking our on ice league photo and presenting the ‘MGHA All-The-Way’ Awards.

Here is the schedule of events for the night:

4:20pm – Rink B = MaroonyTunes VS Nightfuries
4:40pm – Rink A = Arrrnge VS Madison Blues
5:40pm – Rink B = Grayzly Bears VS Red Delicious
6:00pm – Rink A = Narwhals VS Snow Witte and the 14 Dwarfs
7:30pm – Rink A = Team photo! Please arrive at least 15 minutes early with your jersey
8:00pm – Rink A = ABBA: Gold VS Dancing Greens

Because of the alternating schedule. our current schedule for scorebox doesn’t really work. To solve this, we are asking for volunteers to work a shift instead. Please, PLEASE sign up for a shift here if you are able! Keep in mind when you are playing before signing up, especially for rink A.

Also, Cap Ice has graciously allowed us to still host our potluck at their rink. Please sign up for a dish to pass in the link below:

**IMPORTANT REMINDER: We are not allowed to bring in any of our own alcohol into the rink due to the Eagles Nest having a liquor license. Thank you for following their rules!***

Let us know if you have any questions!
See you Sunday!
