That time of year again. Time to get the new hockey players suited up! We have 40-50 folks new to hockey this season and we want to give them a great start to their hockey journey.
Details:
This coming Sunday, August 30th at 6pm-7pm at Legacy20 (Capitol Ice) Arena in Middleton outside the rink on the northern (shady) side of the building. If it rains, we’ll move to the rink lobby.
New registered players that need hockey gear: Please come on by and pick up some gear. If you can’t make it this Sunday, reach out to your mentor or recruiting and we’ll figure out a time for you to stop by the gear stash. You’ll be on the ice Sept 13th so this gives you and your mentor a little time to find any additional items to complete your hockey gear. List of gear: https://newtohockey.com/hockey-equipment-guide-for-new-adult-players/ we do not require neck or mouth guards, we do require helmet cages (and shoulder pads).
Mentors: please attend with your mentee if you can, if not there will be lots of folks around to assist.
Rink Tours: we have scrimmages that night at the rink so if anyone wants to pop in and look around or take their mentee on a quick tour, please do. This is something I would have very much appreciated as a person that was new to hockey as an adult and had not been to many rinks before.
Everyone else: stop by and say hi (miss you, hockey friends!) bring some gear to donate if you have some, stick around to meet and help out some new players! Give us a hand setting up or packing back up! If you have gear to donate but can’t make it on Sunday, reach out to grimkitty@gmail.com and we can arrange a pickup/dropoff.
