Joining the MGHA

in

Thank you for your interest in joining the MGHA. We are currently at full capacity for the 2009-2010 season and will no longer be accepting applications for this season. The recruiting process for the 2010-2011 season will start after the new year. If you are interested in finding out more information about the league and how to apply for next season please email recruiting@madisongayhockey.org. In the meantime, feel free to come watch our games and learn more about the league on Sunday nights at Hartmeyer Ice Arena on the east side of Madison. We love having our fans at every game to cheer us on!

Financial Aid

in

The Madison Gay Hockey Association is committed to making hockey accessible to all members of the LGBTQA community. The need for protective equipment and the high cost of ice time makes hockey a pursuit that carries unavoidable expenses. Thus, the MGHA has set aside some funds to assist players with financial need to cover part or all of their league fees.

MGHA League Fees

in

The MGHA works hard to keep league fees for its members as low as possible to make hockey accessible to all members of the community who want to play. Fees for the 2009-10 MGHA Fall Season are $200. Players are expected to make a $25 non-refundable deposit either in the spring or upon being invited to the league to reserve their spot on the roster. This deposit is applied toward the $200 league fees.

USA Hockey Registration

in

All players must register online with USA Hockey and submit your USA Hockey registration number to the recruiting committee (recruiting@madisongayhockey.org) by September 1. For liability reasons, you will not be allowed to step on the ice without having registered. The cost is $35 and is paid by credit/debit card. The league will assist players without web access or a credit card.

Team Selection

in

Teams will be selected in a manner that is both balanced and fair. While some element of randomization will be incorporated, there will also be opportunities within the process to balance teams in a more direct manner. This will ensure a true balance between all teams and maintain a consist level of play.
