Hello MGHA’ers!
Alas, the season will be commencing in a short two weeks! With the first round of games scheduled for the evening of October 19th, there are a few quick things that need to happen before that.
EVALUATIONS:
The first important distinction is that this is NOT TRYOUTS! We love everyone and look forward to playing with/against everyone! But to ensure that the teams are balanced and the level of game play remains even, we need to figure out how awesome each of you are. So, evals are scheduled to take place this upcoming Sunday, October 5th. Please attend your scheduled time slot – the same one as for skills sessions. The reason is that we will have you guys wear the MGHA championship black/white jerseys to help the evaluators keep track of everyone. Since there are a limited number of jerseys, it’s important that you attend your scheduled time so we don’t have too many people at one session. Check the e-mail that was sent out a few weeks back or the following link if you forgot where you need to be: http://madisongayhockey.org/node/4743. The names/times are listed at the bottom of the page. If you have a time commitment and can’t make your scheduled eval time, please let me know ASAP so we can figure something out! Send an e-mail to hockey-ops@madisongayhockey.org.
TEAM SELECTION:
Team selection will occur within a few days after evals are wrapped up. This will be done by a small group of people that were also involved in the eval process, since they will know the skills of the new players the best. Our own MGHA President, Michelle Watkins, will also be involved to ensure the impartial creation of the teams. We’ll keep you posted once the teams have been established, so stay tuned!
COACHES/CAPTAINS:
The Coaches and Captains have been finalized, and I am happy to present the following people as the team leaders for the 2008-2009 season!
Coach/Captain
Tammy Champion and Bri Deyo
Kevin Loniello and Mike Meholic
Brenda “Pork Chop” Seggerman and Greg Frahm
Vivian Lin and Kathy Janda
Brian Johnson and Kyle Holen
Stefan Strandberg and David Parter
Look for these leaders out on the ice! Thanks everyone!
TEAM PRACTICES:
Once teams are established, you’ll receive an e-mail (probably from your coach/captain) letting you know what team you are on and when your practice is scheduled for the week of October 12th. We should have team jerseys and socks ready for your guys that week.
I think that will do it! See you out on the ice!
