Blades Against AIDS Postponed

This Saturday's Blades Against AIDS fundraising event for AIDS Network has unfortunately been postponed due to a scheduling conflict that is beyond our control.

What Happened?
The Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA), of which the MGHA is a member, holds a series of tournaments throughout the state, and one of those tournaments is this weekend at Madison Ice Arena.

WAHA's contract with MIA, which pre-dated our planning for Blades Against AIDS, gave them the option to use any of the ice time available for the entire weekend. Though it hadn't been the case in previous tournaments, this year they exercised that option and scheduled a game for Saturday night, which left us scrambling to determine what we could do to save the event.

MIA and the west side youth hockey organization were very sympathetic and tried to help us find alternatives that would have allowed Blades Against AIDS to go on. In the end, however, none of those options was viable and we made the difficult decision to postpone the event.

So What Now?
We know that many people have heard about this event in a variety of ways, so we hope you can help get the word out. If you or anyone you know has purchased tickets in advance and would like a refund, contact Matt Jelinek at treasurer@madisongayhockey.org.

Blades Against AIDS will be rescheduled at some point in the near future. We'll be sure to let everyone know when the new date is set. Until then, best of luck to all the teams on championship night!
