Committees

The work of running the MGHA is done by several committees of volunteers that are led by and answer to the MGHA Board. Here is a list of the MGHA Committees and a brief summary of what they do.

Hockey Operations Committee (Hockey Ops) [email]
This committee handles the details of the MGHA's on-ice activities, such as purchasing ice time, scheduling game officials, and coordinating pre-season activities like the skills clinics and team selection process.
Funds Development Committee (FDC) [email]
Player dues only cover about half of the cost of running the league. The Funds Development Committee works with sponsors and donors to allow us to offer opportunities to learn to play hockey this inexpensively.
Recruiting Committee [email]
This committee is responsible for signing up new players, familiarizing and welcoming them into the league, and coordinating players during the pre-season.
Communications Committee [email]
The Communications Committee is responsible for facilitating communication between the board, the other committees, players, the press, and the public. The web team is a sub-committee of Communications.
Community Development Committee [email]
This committee is responsible for coordinating MGHA-sponsored social events, building the MGHA fan club, and planning Blades Against AIDS and other community events.
Tournament Committee [email]
This committee is charged with planning the first (annual?) MGHA Invitational Tournament. They also handle other special hockey events and games with other gay hockey associations.
