About the MGHA
"Hockey has the aura of being a hyper masculine sport with no place for women or gay men. I like that they [Madison Gay Hockey Association] are breaking down that wall by saying, 'You have a place with us. You have a place in hockey.'"
Ted Rybka, Director of Sports Media for GLAAD

The MGHA was started in 2006 by Patrick Farabaugh to provide Madison's LGBTQA community with the opportunity to come together to play and learn hockey in a safe and supportive environment. We're currently in the middle of our fourth season and going strong.
In addition to our weekly hockey games held throughout the winter, MGHA players have played exhibition games against other midwestern gay hockey teams, volunteered at Madison's annual Pride festival, and hosted Blades Against AIDS, an open skate fundraiser for the AIDS Network.
